A few years ago while taking a graphic design class, we had to come up with a logo, preferably one that we would use for our own business. After many many sketches and lots of advice and feedback from my professor, I came up with:Well, years later when it came time to actually putting that design to use, I shared this with my friend, Laura Kelly. She has been a very creative artist for years and I value her opinion and suggestions. While looking over this design, I decided that I wanted to be “A Sweet Berry”. And the “Designs” was just too bulky for me. Laura also made the suggestion as to using a different kind of berry. She asked why I used a strawberry in the first design and my answer was that when I think of berries, a strawberry is what comes to mind first.
While on a family trip to Rochester, NY, I had some free time in the airport to sketch a little. Instead of using pencil and paper, I used the Adobe Ideas App on my iPad and a Stylus. This is where my berry was developed. I got the outline just like I wanted it. Once I got that the way I wanted it, I imported the file into Adobe Illustrator and added color! I knew that I wanted my berry to be purple. Once I got that the way I wanted it, I imported the file into Adobe Illustrator and added color! I knew that I wanted my berry to be purple.
I fell in love with my little “berry”! Next, it was time to incorporate the words. I spent a lot of time sketching….. And trust me, these are not all of the sketches!!!
After lots of sketching, it came down to about three final sketches. I put these three sketches into Adobe Illustrator and turned them into line art so that I could alter them. My final decision was:
Once this was in Illustrator and turned into line art, I added the berry, and made a few changes or additions to the letters and VOILA!!!! My logo was complete!!
Laura mentioned going to a Blogging Conference in September in Sandusky, OH. I thought since I was new to the blogging world, that maybe I would learn some great tips and network a little. So, I decided to go with her! I will post more about my Blogging Conference adventures soon! But before I went, it was recommended to come with business cards, so………..I created my very own business cards! What do you think???
Well, I hope you like my new logo and business cards. Let me know what you think about it!!!
Until next time………………..
